Frequently asked questions about treatment

When am I eligible for treatment at Connection?

You're eligible when the main problem is an addiction and you're motivated to stop. That willingness to change is the most important factor, because we cannot carry out mandatory withdrawals.

What does treatment at Connection cost?

Connection Mental Healthcare is a private clinic, so there are costs involved. Rates depend on the length of treatment and whether you choose a shared or private room. See our cost and fees page or call us for an estimate.

How long does treatment take?

Clinical treatment lasts an average of four to six weeks. The minimum stay is 28 days, with 42 days often recommended, and it can be extended where recovery calls for more time.

I'd like to be treated quickly. Is that possible?

Usually, yes. There are no long waiting lists at Connection Mental Healthcare, and we can often arrange an intake interview soon after your first call. Check our current waiting times for the latest.

How is addiction treated at Connection?

We treat the addiction and the underlying causes together, combining therapy with a structured environment and, where it's clinically needed, a medically responsible detox. You can read more about our treatments.

My loved one denies the problem and refuses help. What can I do?

We can't force anyone into treatment, but we can support you in approaching them. Our family programme is designed to help families respond to denial and start a conversation about getting help.

What should I tell my employer if I want to be admitted?

You can report sick leave in the usual way. We can confirm to your employer that your absence is justified, or keep the details confidential, whichever you prefer.

What should I do in a crisis?

We're not an emergency service. If there's immediate danger, contact your general practitioner or local first aid straight away. For non-urgent help, call us on +27 21 541 0643 and we'll plan the next step with you.
