At Connection Mental Healthcare, we strive to provide the highest quality of care for people suffering from different types of addiction. Unfortunately, this also means there are certain scenarios where our treatment may not be suitable – these indications are known as 'contraindications' and must be taken into account before commencing any form of therapy with us.

Contraindications:

  • Clients under the age of 18;
  • clients whose psychiatric problems are the main issue and are unstable, are not sufficiently held within an ongoing course of treatment and/or give rise to a risk of crisis, such as psychotic symptoms, suicidality or serious behavioural problems arising from a personality disorder;
  • clients with serious sexual disorders or behaviours, such as paedophilia;
  • clients with impaired aggression regulation who show, or have shown, threatening or actual violent behaviour and who cannot guarantee that they will not do so again in a confrontational psychotherapeutic environment;
  • clients whose level of intelligence makes psychotherapeutic treatment impossible, either because a low level of intelligence has been diagnosed or because they have needed additional support and adjustments in the past.

If you have any questions or doubts, please call us on +27 21 541 0643 or fill in the contact form. Together we will see if treatment at Connection Mental Healthcare is possible.
