Choosing cocaine rehab means spending a few weeks somewhere cocaine plays no part in your day. At Connection Mental Healthcare, you stay with us in St James for a personalised programme that usually lasts 28 days. You work one-to-one with your therapist, join group sessions every day and have medical staff on hand day and night.

Cocaine addiction can take control of your life, but recovery is possible. With the right professional support and treatment, you can break free from dependency and take the first step towards a healthier future.

Many people come to us after trying to stop on their own: a sober month that ends on the first night out, or a promise that holds until the next payday. If that sounds familiar, or if cocaine is starting to cost you your job, your money or your relationships, a stay in a clinic gives you something that is hard to find at home – time with no way of getting hold of cocaine.

Looking at common cocaine addiction symptoms, such as cravings and failed attempts to cut down, can give you a clearer picture of how far your use has gone. Quitting cocaine on your own works for some people, and knowing where it tends to get difficult helps you judge whether it is the right route for you.

Your days follow a fixed structure. Cocaine use often goes hand in hand with chaotic days – late nights, lost weekends, broken sleep – and a set daily routine helps you build steadier habits you can take home with you. Each week includes at least 4 individual sessions with your therapist, group therapy every day and 3 sessions with a personal trainer.

Rest, food and time outside

Cocaine rehab asks a lot of you, so the programme also leaves room to unwind. Between sessions there is time to rest, and meals are cooked fresh each day by our in-house chefs. Trips to Table Mountain and to see African penguins are also part of the programme. They give you a break from the intensity of therapy.

Therapy during your stay

In therapy, you look at why cocaine became part of your life and practise handling the situations that trigger your use. Cognitive behavioural therapy and relapse prevention play a big part in that, and our cocaine addiction treatment is built around them.

Detox at the start of your stay

Cocaine withdrawal symptoms are not usually life-threatening, but the crash after heavy use can bring on exhaustion, low mood, poor sleep and strong cravings. After prolonged heavy use, cocaine can also trigger a drug-induced psychosis, with symptoms such as paranoia or hallucinations. If that has happened to you, mention it when you call, so we can work out the right care for you before you arrive. If you need a detox, that comes first, with round-the-clock nursing care.

Crack reaches the brain faster than powder cocaine and its effects fade within minutes, so people often use again and again throughout the day. As a result, crack use becomes closely tied to the people and places around you. Crack cocaine rehab at Connection Mental Healthcare follows the personalised programme described above, with extra focus on breaking that rapid cycle of craving and use.

Out of reach

Getting away from the place where crack cocaine was always within reach is often what makes the rest possible. Once you are here, the hours that used to revolve around crack fill up with therapy and routine. Being far from home also gives you room to look at old patterns with fresh eyes.

Search for 'cocaine rehab near me' and you will mostly find clinics a short drive from home. That is convenient, but it also keeps you close to your dealer and the routines that go with cocaine. Our clinic is in the coastal village of St James in the Western Cape, a long way from both.

Travelling from abroad

Our rehabilitation centre in South Africa welcomes clients from all over the world, and treatment is in English. Flights and airport transfers are not included in the programme fee, but our team is happy to help you plan the journey so that your arrival goes smoothly.

A clinic built for recovery

Our cocaine rehab clinic is on the beachfront, with sea views, a pool, a gym and a choice of private or shared rooms. That comfort has a purpose: sleeping and eating well, with nothing else competing for your attention, leaves you free to put your energy into therapy. The cost of cocaine rehab depends mainly on how long you stay, whether you choose a shared or private room and whether you need a detox. Travel costs are extra. You can find the current weekly rates on our costs and fees page.

Often it is a partner, parent or friend who contacts us first. You are welcome to call on someone else's behalf: we will explain how admission works and answer your questions, while always respecting the privacy of the person you are worried about. Our family programme includes a family meeting during treatment, so the people closest to your loved one are involved too.

Call us

Your aftercare is arranged while you are still with us, so it can start the week you get home. Depending on what you need, that might be an outpatient programme, peer support groups or practical help with work, housing or money. The months after rehab, when everyday life and its old triggers return, matter as much as the weeks you spend with us.

The first step is a confidential conversation with our team, and for many people it is the hardest one. It means admitting that cocaine has taken over more of your life than you intended and that you need help to change that. It is also the start of a life where you make the decisions, not cocaine. After that first conversation, we carry out an addiction assessment to build a picture of your cocaine use, your health and your situation, and together we agree on the length of your stay. You can check our current waiting times, or call us on +27 21 541 0643 to talk through your options for cocaine rehab.

What you learn in therapy

Therapy helps you identify the situations, thoughts and emotions that previously led to cannabis use so you can respond differently in the future. These practical skills become the foundation for sustainable recovery.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about cocaine rehab

How soon can I start cocaine rehab?

You can usually start cocaine rehab with us almost straight away, because no insurer has to approve your admission. Once you have called and completed your addiction assessment, the start date largely depends on your travel arrangements. Call +27 21 541 0643 to check availability.

I also drink or use other drugs. Can I still come to rehab?

You can still come to cocaine rehab if you drink or use other drugs as well. Using cocaine alongside alcohol or other drugs is common, and we specialise in complex cases such as polydrug use, so your programme covers everything you use.

Does health insurance cover cocaine rehab?

Cocaine rehab at a private clinic like ours is usually self-funded, although your health insurance may cover part of the cost, depending on where you live, your insurer and your policy. Because our clients come from many different countries, we recommend checking with your insurer directly to see what you are covered for.

Is cocaine rehab confidential?

Cocaine rehab with us is confidential, and your personal information is handled with complete discretion. Being in another country also means your stay is out of sight of colleagues and neighbours.
